Crown specializes in developing electric lift trucks that are utilized in manufacturing settings and distributions centers around the globe. Crown is a principal forklift producer of IC forklift trucks for both outdoor and inside uses. History - 1930 to 1950

Crown Equipment Corporation was born in the rural American village of New Bremen, Ohio, USA. The business has developed from a one-room operation into a globally prominent company, currently considered to be the 7th largest lift truck producer on the planet.

The Crown company was founded in 1945 by two brothers, Allen A. Dicke and the late Carl H. Dicke. Carl's son and Chairman Emeritus, James F. Dicke, joined the family company later on that same year. At this time, his son, James F. Dicke II, is Chairman and CEO. James F. Dicke III, serves as the company Head today, becoming the fourth generation of the Dicke descendants to maintain this position.

Crown in the beginning started with a small client base producing temperature controls that they manufactured for coal burning furnaces. The assembly of these control units took place in a former hardware store stationed in New Bremen, Ohio, where Crown's headquarters currently remain.

By the year 1949, Crown shifted into the making of rotators for antenna due the increased interest in televisions at the time. The product was able to improve the image and reception quality. The company's lucrative move allowed them to become a leading producer of units until 2001. The company ceased production in October after a decline in the worldwide demand for TV antenna rotators.

History - 1950 to 1975

Crown before long diversified its production to incorporate the restoration of mechanical and electrical parts for private and government use in the early 1950's. After several profitable bids within a brief period of time, the company had developed a reputable business in this field.

Versatility and achievement dominated Crown's capability to diversify once again. In 1957, production into the materials handling industry started with lift truck production. The organization believed the market needed a smaller line of top-quality quality forklifts. Two years later, Crown had moved into the European marketplaces by buying up an Irish production plant from a German Company, Steinbock. There they started to construct PTH hand pallet trucks. Later on that same year, Crown began their first London operation located near Heathrow Airport. The sales and service operation of Crown's complete forklift line was available in the UK by the end of the decade. In the early 1970's, Crown expanded and began marketing lift trucks across Europe through autonomous dealers.

History - 1975 to Present

Crown at present has a large network of Crown-owned and independently-owned sellers in many key international marketplaces delivering a vast fleet of electric forklifts. They are responsible for managing the company's product sales and service.

Corporate offices in New Bremen, Ohio and Munich, Germany provide national advertising and promotional sales support to all dealer and sales personnel. Both Crown sales and dealer personnel are factory- trained in all disciplines to ensure the utmost reliability and service. The Munich office was launched in the 1980's and offers purchasing, advertising and marketing, engineering and design functions for India, Africa, the Middle East along with Europe. The diverse relations of international sellers and Crown-owned dealers effectively operate in nearly 100 foreign city environments.

The 6 USA manufacturing locations for Crown consist of New Bremen, Ohio; New Knoxville, Ohio; Fort Loramie, Ohio; Celina, Ohio; Kinston, North Carolina; and Greencastle, Indiana. Crown proudly manufactures globally, producing forklifts in Sydney, Australia since 1966, Queretaro, Mexico since 1973, Roding, Germany since 1986 and Suzhou, China since 2006. Crown also owns branch sales and service center operations in more than 30 locations in the USA. International branch sales and service center operations consist of locations in Singapore, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Korea, Malaysia, England, Germany, Belgium and Australia.

Crown has earned a profitable reputation as a dependable, trustworthy and progressive company by fulfilled consumers worldwide. The company has earned over 50 distinguished design awards and the Crown goods continue to attain recognition for top design superiority and innovation. For instance, in the 1970's, Crown's launch of the side-stance design proved exciting and unparalleled by materials handling experts.
